Villa Von Saurma

Private building // Italy

Location

Massalubrense (NA), IT

Halfway between the refined Sorrento and the elegant and glamour Positano, on the stunning promontory of Punta Campanella, facing the beautiful Island of Capri, there is the exclusive Villa Von Saurma, whose name derives from the Baroness who ordered its construction to the architect Bruno Morassutti in the early 60s.

This wonderful natural setting offers unique panoramic views of the island and the Gulf of Naples.
BALF Group has reinterpreted the structural requirements of the original work, combining the use of traditional building materials with the use of reinforced concrete, though using crafted building techniques.

Concept

Building and construction

Located 300 meters above the sea level and on a terracing with steep slopes, the villa consists of 4 housing buildings. The two main units are characterized by coverings of white cement, each one staggered and supported by four columns of reinforced concrete with a bearing joint in bronze, with an inverted cone shape.

The whole is intersected by a lava stone staircase, that acts as a connection between the two spaces.
The large window of the main façade allows a spatial continuity between the inside and the outside.
The indoor areas are separated by partial baffles to allow for ventilation.
